Match My Friends

Q: What is Match My Friends?
A: Match My Friends is an innovative new way for friends to help one another find more dating success. Friends and relatives may help a single person find love by inviting them to join Match.com and helping them write a compelling profile that stands out.
Q: Why am I asked to provide my first and last name, isn’t Match.com anonymous?
A: Your name will only be used as identification in the invitation to your single friend. It will not appear to any members or anywhere else on the site.
Q: I’m not single. How can I be assured I’m not joining Match.com?
A: Joining Match My Friends does not register you as a Match.com member. Only your relationship (e.g. family, friend, colleague) and the testimonial you write will be visible to Match.com members.

Add a Friend

Q: How many friends can I invite to join Match.com?
A: You can invite as many single friends and family members as you wish.

Q: Will I be notified when my friend accepts or declines my invitation?
A: While a notification is not sent via email, you can see the status of your invitations at any time on your Match My Friends page. If a friend does not appear on this page, they either declined the invitation or did not respond within 30 days. After 30 days, invitations that have not been accepted are automatically deleted.
Q: My friend might already be a Match.com member. Can I still send them an invitation?
A: If your friend is already a member, you can still write a testimonial for their profile. Your friend can send you an invitation to do so, or, if you write a new profile for them, they can select to add your testimonial to their existing profile, as well as a photo your uploaded.

Don’t know if they are a member or not? If you send them an invitation, they will be able to add the testimonial you wrote to their profile (and the photo, if you uploaded one).

Q: How do I edit the profile information I entered for my friend?
A: Once your invitation has been sent, only your friend may edit their profile.
Q: How do I upload more photos for my friend?
A: After the initial upload (just one photo at this time), only your friend may add additional photos to their profile.
Q: Why did my friend’s name disappear from my list of Open Invitations?
A: If they accepted the invitation, they are now listed under “Friends Who Accepted Your Invitation”. If they declined or did not respond within 30 days, their name also disappears from this list.

Find Matches (Search)

Q: How many matches can I find and send to my friend?
A: You can send up to 6 matches per email, and you may send as many emails as you like.
Q: Will the matches I find for my friend realise they were selected?
A: No, other members do not know that they are matches for your friend.
Q: Can my friend communicate with the matches I send them?
A: Once your friend accepts the invitation they become a Match.com member. They may flirt for free with any member of interest to them. After becoming a subscriber, they may also send emails.
Q: I was finding matches for my friend and came across a member’s profile that concerned me. How do I report it?
A: We strive to present only profiles of genuine people. Members of our customer care team review all profiles before they are posted, but we rely on users like you to improve the overall Match.com experience for everyone.

When to Report a Concern

  • If a profile text claims they are not actually where their profile suggests (e.g. they are really in Russia or Nigeria)
  • If a profile altogether does not seem to make sense (e.g. the picture doesn’t match the information)
  • If you know married people or minors who are using the service
  • If you see inappropriate profiles or photos on the site
