Autumn is absolutely my favorite time of year. I love everything about it — from the weather to the food and the corny movies, to Halloween and the build up to Christmas and the New Year. There’s something about autumn that feels different, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels it.
Not only is autumn a whole lot of fun, but it’s also the go-to season for dating. Below are five reasons that prove it:
-
The Weather Is Perfect For Dating
Summer is behind us, so you don’t have to worry about getting sweaty, and winter is still a way away, so it’s not too freezing to venture outside. Fall weather is, in my opinion, the best season for dating. Autumn signals a dramatic change as leaves switch colours, days get shorter, and the air becomes crisp, refreshing and invigorating; it’s like the season is crying out for you get a move on with your dating life!
There’s nothing more romantic than walking with your date through a fresh lawn of crunchy leaves, grabbing coffee or brunch in a warm and cozy café when it’s chilly outside, and it’s the prefect excuse to invite your date over for an early night in with a blanket and your favourite shows.
-
There Are Scary Things Lurking, Which is Great for Flirting
Nothing says autumn more than Halloween, and doing scary things with your date lets out your silly side! Studies have suggested that you’re more likely to find someone more attractive after a fright and your instincts kick in, so scary movies are also as good idea. Find an event like a haunted house, ghost tour, scary movie sessions, and, of course, a Halloween party (which means sexy costumes). There’ll undoubtedly be moments when you can grab onto one another out of fear or hilarity.
-
Dating Sites & Apps Are Packed With Members
Autumn and the upcoming holidays tend to make people want to do something about their single life. It can be cozy and comforting to share the colder months with a partner, so singles want to get out there and take chances to improve their circumstances. That’s where online dating comes in handy. Most platforms, particularly the most popular dating sites and apps, see significant membership growth during this time. Tens of millions of people already use online dating, so now that it’s picking up steam, you have even more singles to connect with.
-
Lots of Good Movies Come Out Around This Time
A lot of the best movies come out during fall because studios and producers are preparing for the Oscars and Baftas. Past Oscar winners include “Moonlight,” “Shakespeare in Love,” “Rocky,” and “Casablanca.” Movies this year that are already getting buzz include “mother!”, “Mark Felt — The Man Who Brought Down the White House,” and “Suburbicon.” Going to a movie is a classic date, and for good reason. It’ll give you something to talk about (Did you both like it? Why or why not? What do you think the director was going for? Etc.). Plus, it’s fun getting in on the potentially award-winning movies from the beginning.
-
You Have Tons of Interactive Activities to Do
You’ll never run out of things to do in autumn, whether it’s visiting an autumnal forest, heading out on a quick city break, getting lost in a corn maze or carving pumpkins together. Don’t forget the heartwarming taste of hot apple cider or hot cocoa, sitting by a fire, or celebrating Oktoberfest in style,. Yes, these are fun activities, but they’re also great for meeting people if you’re single because they encourage interaction. It’s easy to strike up a conversation when you’re trying to find the best pumpkin to carve (ask the guy next to you for his opinion), or you’re at a fall festival (buy a drink or win a stuffed animal for the girl you made eye contact with). If you’re in a relationship, think of how many new date ideas you now have.
Fall is a magical time of year. It’s something I look forward to, revel in when it’s here, and miss when it’s over. No matter if you’re single or part of a couple, use this time to turn over a new leaf (get it?) — doing things you’ve never done before, relishing in the hobbies you’re passionate about, as well as creating relationships and nurturing the ones you already have.
