Free dating ideas

While you might like to whisk your date off their feet or treat them to an unforgettable dating experience, you might wonder how to do so without breaking the bank!

A little creativity can go a long way in the dating world. Here are a few free dating ideas that won’t break the bank.

Date on a weeknight

A word to the wise: restaurants and bars tend to have 2-4-1 and other such offers on weekdays, as opposed to weekends, so if you’re dating and on a budget, consider meeting up for a drink or meal one night after work. If you’re not keen on printing out a voucher, there’s lots of websites and even apps which let you simply present the code on your phone when it’s time to pay.

Go for a hike

If you’re lucky enough to live near some scenic spots, then take your dating outdoors on a romantic ramble. Away from the distractions of the world, a hike with your date provides the perfect opportunity to show your true self. If you’re not within a stone’s throw of the great outdoors though, you could go for a walk around your local town or park.

Make a homemade picnic

While you can’t control the weather, you can keep a check on your budget with a home prepared picnic. Rummage through your fridge and cupboards for any snacks, pop them all in a bag (or basket if you have one) et voila! A warm summer’s evening presents the perfect opportunity to enjoy the peace of the fading day. Take a blanket and arrange it in a romantic spot in your local park, preferably with a great view.

Mosey around a museum

One of the great things about dating in the UK is its abundance of culture, and most of it can be enjoyed for free! Lots of the major cities are home to museums and galleries, which make for some handy dating spots. Some of the museums in London are now open until late, allowing the two of you to combine culture with a sociable night out.

Find a cosy coffee shop

The likes of Starbucks and Costa tend to charge a few bob for their fancy frappuccinos and what not, but venture a little off the main streets and you’ll discover family-owned coffee bars. These often warm and friendly joints serve equally delicious drinks, but for a fraction of the price! So you might even have a few pounds left over for a slither of cake!
