Get in ahead of the curve with a romantic mini-break in Wrocław, Krakow’s coolest cousin that has just been crowned the European Capital of Culture 2016.
Wrocław, pronounced “V-rots-lav” is the fourth largest city in Poland and is renowned for its alternative, off-beat character. Whether you’re looking to impress a Polish date or simply wanting to explore the Polish dating scene, there’s nowhere cooler to get romantic.
Statistics show that couples that travel together, stay together, and report more romance, better sex lives and even lower divorce rates than non-travelling couples. Travelling even boosted romance more than gifts! Wrocław is teeming with cool spots to visit. To help you on your Polish dating quest we’ve listed the best bars, museums and museum bars.
Konspira, Historical Education Centre & Eatery
Did you know that under the communist rule Wrocław was known as the ‘fortress of solidarity’? The heart of communist resistance when trade unions were banned, Wrocław’s rebellious united spirit is documented at Konspira Historical Education Centre. With talks, film screenings and historical re-enactments, we were blown away by the volume of interesting solidarity artefacts, political cartoon and riot shields. The Bar itself pulses with rebellious paraphernalia, while The Café menu serves Polish favourites alongside historic slogans and wisdoms. Profits also support local social projects.
MWW- Museum of Contemporary Wrocław
Take a 10-minute tram ride to modern art museum MWW for an unmissable modern art gallery in a former WWII air-raid tower. We love the views from the café situated on the rooftop of the museum. The art doesn’t stop there either! Wrocław reveres its spray can icons and walking the streets is a feast for the eyes with numerous walls dedicated to the rebellious spirit of street art. Check out the Polish Posters gallery for a wonderful display of unique hand-crafted Polish posters from WWII and beyond and take home postcards and keepsakes for your romantic date.
Art Café Kalambur
For a fun evening in the city, why not check out super stylishly designed, Art Café Kalambur, for all your bohemian society needs. Dance the night away with eclectic DJs playing everything alternative from 1930s swing tunes to indie naughty gems. It’s also one of the only places in the centre where smoking is permitted. Bust your moves on the dancefloor and enjoy a night of revelry!
