Even though dating has become more technologically-driven, more fast-paced and more accessible, it seems that the classic dating rules still apply in this day and age.
I’d like to share my own experiences about good, old-fashioned dating guidelines that I’ve already been reminded of in 2014:
1) Don’t have too many drinks on a date
This may sound obvious, but don’t do it ladies. On a date last weekend I ended up having a cocktail too many and falling down the stairs. My date was lovely; he helped me up, took me outside when the bouncers approached, and put me in a taxi. But I never heard from him again. I really don’t blame him.
2) Going for a coffee date actually IS a good idea
Horrified by my behaviour on aforementioned date, I decided to make my next date completely alcohol-free. And what is more alcohol-free than a Sunday morning coffee? I met my date at a lovely coffee shop, and we ended up having a really nice time. Coffee turned into lunch, which turned into a bit of shopping, and, best of all, I didn’t fall over at all. Result.
3) It’s all a state of mind
Having spent a lot of 2013 as a singleton, it sometimes seemed like I was never going to meet a man who met all of my criteria! But this year, something seems different. I’ve finally put it down to the way I’m approaching dating – by being more open-minded, I’ve actually ended up liking some of the men that I would previously never have considered.
So keep looking, ladies! Keep on trying, gents! Fingers crossed, 2014 might just be the year for us all… For more from Kat, head back to our London dating page.
