Release Your Inner Child: Immaturity & Dating #LoveYourImperfections

Each and every one of has our own perceived imperfections – flaws if you like.

These are often the things that we’re not so sure that other people will like about us, and because of this, we sometimes try to hide them. Whether you’re someone who’s messy or who has a tendency to say the wrong thing at the wrong time, the chances are that you’re self-conscious about your imperfections and worry about what other people will think of you because of them.

But just stop for a minute and think, if we were all carbon copies of each other, the world would be a very boring place, wouldn’t it?

Imagine dating in a world where everyone was the same – that spark of excitement that comes with meeting someone new would be non-existent, because it would be impossible to meet someone who could change the way we thought and felt. How dull and dreary would life be?

Let’s say that you’re someone who has an immature side. You have a tendency to laugh at things that others find mundane. For instance, funny puns and naughty limericks really get you going. Perhaps you’re also someone who loves the idea of going on a classically cheesy date, like the ones that you used to go on back when you were a teenager – mini golf anyone?

You might be tempted to try and hide your immature side and put on a mature facade, in the hope that your date will like you more, but this is a mistake. While you might be able to keep the face on for the first couple of dates, once you start to get to know each other, sooner or later it will inevitably drop, and your immature self will be on display. As it’s going to happen at some point anyway, why not just be yourself from the start? Don’t be afraid to be yourself, because anyone who is worth the effort will like you for you.

Believe it or not, being your own immature self could even make it easier for you to build a rapport with your date. If they also have an immature side, the two of you will probably have a much better time if you’re both open and honest about your personalities.

It’s always scary putting yourself out there and being open and honest with someone you hardly know, but if you want to give things a real go, it’s important to show your date your personality from the start. You never know, maybe he or she will also have a similar side and will find the same things funny as you do. They might even love the idea of going on the same types of dates as you do – think kite flying, having a candlelit picnic in the park, going to an open air movie, or going bowling. However, if you don’t let them see your immature side, you’ll never know, will you?

Your partner should be someone who is your perfect match – personality wise, at least. He or she should be someone who not only understands you, but also someone who you can have a lot of fun with. If you’re someone who loves cutesy gestures, like turning up to a date with a bunch of flowers or someone who always gets the door for you, then you need to find someone who will do those types of things. If you love spending your evenings playing old board games or watching black and white movies, you need to find someone who likes those things too.

Don’t be afraid to show your true colours and be yourself with a date, be brave and show them the real you. Remember, just because you don’t like your imperfections, that doesn’t mean that someone else won’t.

Your date may be just as immature as you are and by showing them your immature side, you could make your first meeting one to remember.
