If you have a date on the horizon but you’re a little strapped for cash, you might like to try dating at one of our favourite free dating spots. The UK has no end of free parks, museums, galleries and more.
London
If you’re dating a culture vulture then you’re in the right city. London is positively stuffed with museums, galleries and art exhibitions.
Our arty spot of choice is the Saatchi Gallery in South West London. Here, the two of you can take a wander around and be inspired by the sculptures and abstract artwork which is sure to provide lots of talking points.
The Barbican Centre is also a wonderful place for a date – and it’s absolutely free! Explore this 1970s building’s hidden gardens, slopes and steps and unwind in the rooftop conservatory.
Alternatively, if you’re wondering how to add a musical twist to your date, the Southbank Centre frequently plays host to free performances from live bands and singers.
Leeds
When it comes to dating in Leeds, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
If the weather’s nice, a wander around Kirkstall Abbey‘s lush green parkland is perfect for a penny-free, relaxed date.
If the two of you are fascinated by history, The Royal Armouries is home to artefacts and weapons of war dating back to 40AD! Alternatively, the two of you can learn a little more about your city or simply enjoy the many exhibitions and programmes that Leeds City Museum has to offer.
Newcastle
Newcastle is one of the most vibrant cities in the UK; bursting with bright lights, stunning architecture and exciting nightlife, there’s always something going on in the “toon”.
Just a stone’s throw from Central Station, the Discovery Museum is packed full of exhibitions about Newcastle, so the two of you can learn a little more about your hometown. The Great North Museum also offers you the opportunity to get up close and personal with mummies, the Ancient Greeks and even a T-Rex – perhaps not a date for the fainthearted!
Housed inside a converted mill, the BALTIC Centre is a hub of contemporary art. This spectacular gallery is perfect for a chilled out daytime date, which might give you a little more insight into your date’s interests and personality.
Glasgow
At the heart of the city is the impressive Glasgow Cathedral. Steeped in history dating back to the 13th century, the Cathedral provides a place to enjoy each other’s company as you explore this ancient wonder.
We also love The Lighthouse (Scotland’s only centre for architecture and design). The Lighthouse boasts stunning views across the city and beyond, providing a most romantic dating spot.
If you’re able to venture a little way out of Glasgow, you’ll find Pollock House. Set in the spectacular Pollock Country Park, Pollock House gives you a fascinating insight into Edwardian lifestyle. Entry is free to visitors from March to November.
