This venue is BYO, so you and your date can split a bottle of wine and not pay restaurant prices. Based in Clapham, Zumbura is an Indian restaurant that has an east meets west feel and serves authentic northern Indian cuisine. This is a perfect spot for an elegant but also lively date. Serving the majority of their dishes as small plates, this is a great place to go if you like to share your food. Sharing food is an excellent ice-breaker on a date as you can talk about the flavour of the food and what you like. Zumbura’s pricing isn’t extortionate but be warned, going to Zumbura on an empty stomach could be dangerous. Thanks to the moreish nature of the food, a hungry diner could easily see a six or seven dish affordable bill quickly turn into a 12 dish jaw dropper.

Dishoom has four establishments across the capital, all offering mouth wateringly delicious cuisine. Located in Shoreditch, Carnaby Street, Kings Cross and Covent Garden, all the restaurants have a very similar vibe. The restaurants are modelled on old Irani cafes which used to be extremely common in Bombay and which give these restaurants a classic colonial charm. The restaurants have a lively atmosphere, delicious cocktails, fragrant and mouth-watering food all at reasonable price. For a special occasion you could try one of the sharing feasts, but remember to arrive hungry!
