How to prepare for a match.com night
match.com nights are a relaxed, friendly way to meet other match.com members, and thought there’s nothing to be worried about, we know sometimes a few nerves can creep in.
Below we’ve answered some of the most common queries our members have before attending a match.com night, but if your question isn’t covered then let us know via a tweet @match_uk or a message on our Facebook page and we’ll get back to you.
Is there a dress code?
There’s no strict dress code, but a smart casual look is favoured by most attendees.
It sounds clichéd, but wearing something flattering but also comfortable is key – you don’t want to end up sitting in the corner all night because your shoes are rubbing!
As match.com nights are mostly held on weekday evenings, many of our members come straight from work, so if you show up in your work garb you won’t look out of place.
Pick talking points
You’ll have been invited to this particular match.com night based on your location, age, gender and interests, so you’ll meet like-minded individuals you can get to know a little better.
If you’re not the most outgoing of personalities, or perhaps you find it difficult to talk to new people, why not mentally prepare a few icebreaking questions and talking points about yourself to ensure the conversation keeps flowing throughout the night.
Bring a friend or 3
Thinking of attending a match.com night but don’t want to go on your own? A little friendly encouragement is sometimes all you need to go and chat to that girl or guy across the bar, which is why we encourage you to bring a friend along. Once you register for a match.com night you’ll have the opportunity to invite up to three friends to accompany you.
