Match just uncovered the language used most often in its top-performing profiles, and the findings are revealing.

• What’s the one word most likely to land you a date? It’s ‘love‘.
• What do successful women talk about most? Their ‘friends‘ and ‘family‘.
• And for men? Projecting a chill attitude with words like ‘easy‘ and ‘laugh‘ is a winning strategy.

So, if you’ve ever wondered how to best describe yourself on dating sites, the results are in! Match took a peek at the ‘About Me’ sections of their top profiles to discover similarities in the words they used.

Comfortingly, ‘love‘ stole the show for both male and female singles and took the top spot for both genders – so, don’t be afraid to let your passions show! Next on the list for both sexes was ‘fun’ – something we clearly all love a bit of, and ladies were also notably enamoured with ‘funny’ men.

Within the top female profiles, words describing strong personal relationships are desirable, with ‘friends’ and ‘family’ both placing highly. Including ‘kind’, ‘caring’ and ‘honest’ to describe personality type was also revealed as an indicator of success. It’s worthwhile to let your lighthearted side show too, with ‘laugh’ and ‘happy‘ making their way into the top 10.

The most popular men are believers in ‘romance’ – placing the word much higher on their list compared to women – and they stay true to the chivalrous traits of being ‘loyal’ and ‘honest’.

For the most successful men, many of the words are similar to those on the top women’s profiles, indicating that both sets of singles are looking for someone like-minded. A notable exception was ‘easy’ working its way up the men’s list showing perhaps a more playful nature on their profiles.

The top men also described being ‘outgoing’ and ‘positive’, and perhaps surprisingly, ‘nice’ – proving that nice guys do win out. Like their female counterparts, they’re are also seeking a ‘laugh’ and ‘happy’ was thrown into the mix.

An energetic life features commonly in the the most admired males, with ‘active’, ‘fit’, ‘outdoors’, ‘gym’ and ‘walking’ all making their way into the top spots – all higher than on women’s profiles too.
